Scholarship

The brothers of the Chi Lambda Colony understand that scholarship is our highest priority. Participating in our first IFC Greek Week Awards, the Chi Lambda Colony received second place for Best Scholarship Program in 2008. Since our inception as a colony, we have dedicated ourselves to Phi Gamma Delta's standard of excellence and have set a precedent for future academic success at UC San Diego.

Study Hours

To make sure that all brothers are keeping up with their academics, the Chi Lambda Colony enforces study hours based upon last quarter's GPA. Study hours are staggered so that those with the lowest GPAs are required to attend the most standardized study sessions, while those who meet their academic obligations are not. Hours are logged during these standardized study sessions by a member of the Scholarship Committee who assumes the role of "proctor."

Quarterly Scholarship Dinner

Every quarter, the brothers with the highest GPAs are invited to an exclusive Scholarship Dinner. This modest incentive promotes a healthy academic competition within the fraternity. Our aim as individuals dedicated to the principles of Phi Gamma Delta is to advance ourselves and our brothers as too.

Letters and Awards

At our winter formal, the brother with the highest cumulative GPA is announced and awarded a plaque. Additionally, brothers with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher receive a letter that is sent home to his parents recognizing him for his academic achievement.
